Our final event to celebrate 50 Years of Women at St Edmund’s College will be a performance on Sunday, 5 July 2020 of a new opera composed by St Edmund’s alumna Susannah Self, called Artemisia.

The opera is inspired by the Renaissance painter Artemisia Gentileschi's historical residence in Venice which interfaces with the parallel rise of convents as documented in Jonathan Glixon’s Mirrors of Heaven or Worldly Theaters? Venetian Nunneries and their Music: 2018

There will be a major exhibition of Artemisia’s work in spring 2020 at The National Gallery.

The performance is generously being performed free of charge by North Sea Opera as a fundraising opportunity for the College.

The ticket price is £50 and includes a contribution to the College’s Student Support Fund.

3.30-5pm: Performance of Artemisia at St Edmund’s College.

5pm-6pm: Refreshments will be available after the performance.
